Advice plz?
On Wednesday, Tori/
bat_bow_tie is flying back down to Houston for six days, during which I plan to go apartment hunting with him (not for me, duh, for him by himself, lol). I've already searched tons of websites, finding reviews and prices, and I've narrowed down the choices to six or seven different complexes to go look at that I think will be okay.
The only problem is that I have no fucking clue what I'm doing; I've obviously lived with my parents my entire life, and once my parents married at 19/21, they moved into a home in the same neighborhood they grew up in immediately. :D Nobody has ever looked for apartments in my family; ah, I always feel like I know basically nothing about how to survive in the real world because nobody has experience in my family. Thank god for the internet, or else I'd know pretty much fucking nothing. *INFURIATION!*
Ahem. Anyway. Anyone have any advice? Like, walk into the office, what do you say? "May we see a room/have a tour?" IDK, I can see the amenities of most places online, but I still think it would be nice to have like a handout or something from the places. Do they keep that stuff laying around? WHAT IS GOING ON I HAVE NO CLUE.
(Bonus info about trying to find a job in a different state would also be nice, if you have any, please. <3 Tori has an associates (in animation, mind you), so I keep telling him he can get a pretty awesome entry level job somewhere (not necessarily in animation; just SOMETHING- degrees look good on a resume regardless), if we just know where to look. I know it's recession time and all, but my parents and even the NEWS have been going on and on about how Houston is like the 2nd best place in the entire fucking country right now to find a job (behind Austin), so I'm not INCREDIBLY worried on the availability front)
