My mind is too open for this country.
Mar. 15th, 2008 12:56 amI had been trying not to watch this video, because I knew it would infuriate me (and I was right), but too many people are talking about it now, so I had to watch it, and now I have to say something.

I have a question for all of you.
Why is a person's sexuality so interesting? You don't EVER hear ANYONE starting an interview with "So, I heard you were heterosexual. Is it true you like to fuck people of the opposite gender?" I mean, that's absurd, right? So why, when someone suddenly just so happens to be attracted to the same sex, is it fair game to treat them like an animal? Who in their RIGHT FUCKING MIND would find it acceptable to not only be so obtrusive as to ask the question in the first place, but to start an INTERVIEW with the question "So you're obviously a homosexual, right?"
How is Danny 'obviously' a homosexual? The guy in the video goes on to say that he 'saches' around and is a 'total flamer.' Here is a HUGE pet peeve of mine that people of ALL kinds seem UNABLE to let go of (even the people DEFENDING Danny are making this mistake, and it's pissing me off)- JUST because a person acts what you think is 'abnormal' for their 'normal' gender role does NOT make them GAY. It's true that Danny may be fierce and sassy, and that those traits are usually seen as feminine, but why does ACTING this way mean he likes men? And WHY is having an attitude and swaying your hips a feminine thing anyway? WHY is beauty, emotion, sass, and style strictly a female thing? I mean, WHO DESIGNATED this shit? Being female only entails two things, and that is this: having a vagina and a pair of mammary glands. Being GAY only entails one thing as well, and that is this: being physically attracted to the same sex. Why does a sassy boy have to be considered feminine, and why does a boy being feminine have to be gay? My God, you would think everyone would understand by now that every single damn person on this earth is different- rules HARDLY ever apply. I fucking HATE stereotyping, holy jesus. Like I said, people on BOTH sides of the argument are guilty of this- obviously, the douchebag that posted the video wants to believe that he's not homophobic, but he is, in fact, a total posing asshole. And the people that are defending Danny are rebuking with "WHY WOULD YOU ASK HIM THAT, ISN'T IT OBVIOUS HE IS GAY?"
Look America, unless Danny came right out onto the stage in front of the whole world and said "I am attracted to men," you have NO RIGHT to assume he is gay no matter WHAT the fuck he does, okay? Sexuality is a PRIVATE thing, and if Danny chooses not to comment on it, then you sure as hell had better take a step back and stop trying to PRY into his LIFE about it.
(I would like to take this moment in time to add that, yes, despite my arguments, I discovered a while ago that Danny IS gay- there's an old youtube video of his from a while back (way before AI) where he's rapping (tis the infamous do-rag Chain of Fools video) and just in general being a doofus- he admits to being gay in it. So I know that he is- but the point I am trying to make here is that I can guarantee that the person who conducted the interview had never seen the video, and he AND the people defending Danny are just making statements that infer that it's okay to judge his sexuality based SOLELY on his 'feminine' actions, and I feel like that is just the hugest, most incorrect type of stereotyping ever)
That aside, I'd just like to once again mention how appalling it was of that guy to ask that question right out of the gate- the guy goes on to say in his unnecessarily angry video that, had Danny had the chance to say "Yes, I am gay" (which we all know he would not have since, you know, Danny is not RETARDED and understands that just because he may be doesn't mean he has to ANNOUNCE it to the world in order for other people to see him as 'gay and proud' or whatever), he would have congratulated him. Why? Do you congratulate people for being straight? "Oh, congratulations woman, on fucking a guy!" Yeah, once again, absurd, right? Then why is it suddenly okay to be like "Congratulations on admitting you're attracted to the same sex!" That's like saying "Congratulations on eating today!" What the hell? It's just a biological process- don't piss yourself, dumbass, it's not that fantastic.
And what I wrote in my parenthesis up there brings me to ANOTHER point- why do you have to be out to the whole world in order to be out? Straight people don't discuss their sexuality with everyone, so why MUST a gay person in order to be considered proud? Is it WRONG to want to keep that kind of a thing private from at least SOME people? I don't think so! It's very very very clear that Danny is comfortable with who he is and everything that he does- what would admitting that he is gay to the entire world fulfill in his life? Absolutely nothing! You know why? Because there is no special handbook. Being gay does not change who you are. It is just a very small factor- personality is everything, sexual preference is a SMALL PART of who you are; why do people have to act like it's absolutely EVERYTHING? I mean, if you thought I was a very nice (or even very mean/obnoxious/bitchy) person, and I then told you that I was gay (I'm pansexual actually, heh), it wouldn't make any sense to think any differently of me, would it? How would that affect OUR relationship with each other? It wouldn't! Danny's out to people he is close to; JUST because you're gay doesn't mean you have to walk around wearing goddamn rainbows, proclaiming it from every rooftop at the top of your lungs. It's cool to be prideful, but you shouldn't fucking have to tell the whole world unless you WANT TO. Goddamn.
I am so SICK of this country poking and prodding everyone different from the social norm. What IS the social norm? Who suddenly decided one day that it had to be the way it was? Why aren't people CHALLENGING these barriers more? Why do we continue to live in our little boxes, afraid to push at the corners to see if we can knock the walls down? Why can't we all just be OURSELVES and not have to worry about other peoples' opinions? Jesus, I am just so disgusted now that I can't even stand it. I guess the only thing I can say is that it's good that every generation is more open than the last- things are certainly way better than they were fifty years ago, so with hope, they'll keep changing for the better. I hope one day everyone will come to understand what equality REALLY means. No oppression, no revenge for the mistakes of our forefathers... just drop all of that shit, please. We're all people first. If you wouldn't want it said or done to you, then don't do it. LET'S MAKE THE GOLDEN RULE GOLDEN AGAIN.
