Dude, gaiz. Did you know that Popples are coming back?

ME EITHER!!! I was at Target tonight with my family, wandering aimlessly up and down the toy aisle (Target refuses to get anything past the 1st round of Jakks Pacific Pokemon figurines, so I was like "Blaah you suck.") We stepped onto the stuffed animal aisle and I was like "... POPPLES?! ASFFJSKLDJS."

Seriously, how adorable is this...?

The girls are kind of stupid, but the boy one is SO CUTE IT GIVES ME CAVITIES. I bought him; I couldn't help myself- he was rainbowy AND dragony, wtf, how could I RESIST? It says his name is MonsterPopp, but I'm thinking I'm going to rename him Rufus and carry him everywhere, since I've stopped carrying my Pokemon plushies around (because they get beat up and that makes me teh sad D: ). LOL I can use his pouch to store things in. He's a makeshift purse!

LOOK. :D )

PS: It took me the entire ride home to figure out how to stuff himself into his own pouch, lol. I was like "THE PICTURE SAYS YOU CAN DO IT BUT I CAN'T EVEN FIT HIS HEAD IN." LOL, I wuz doin it rong. ): I fail.

Hm...

I just had the overwhelming urge to go to the beach. I'd looooove a trip to Galveston... It's a shame I have to work and it's always so dreary outside. I cannot STAND this season, because it's always raining. Always. I swear to God, if it rains this Saturday at the John concert... I'm killing something.

One of my favorite co-workers is back from her two week vacation today, so maybe work won't be so bad. I'm tired of work living up to my expectations of being a total shit-hole. Please God... let today be livable. Please.

WTF?

LOL apparently there's a squirrel stuck in our toilet.

That's right. In the toilet.

How do we get INTO these things. LOL, good lord, with all of the animals/bugs that show up in my house, you'd think we lived in the boonies... not in a suburban neighborhood. LOL. uuuugggh heebie jeebies. XD

sry for not updating; I've been really busy. work + school = death.

Ugh.

I HATE the people that come bother us about the truck we have in our driveway. We have like, a little '93 Ford pickup, and like EVERY DAMN WEEK there's some Mexican knocking on our door wanting to know if we want to sell it (and yes, it's always Mexicans- the people in our neighborhood are lazy and won't do their own lawn work, so the reason they want the truck is to tote around their stupid mowers and crap).

Okay:

A- DOES IT SAY FOR SALE ON IT?! Uhhhh, if it doesn't, I'd pretty much take that as WE DON'T WANT TO SELL IT
B- DOES OUR DRIVEWAY LOOK LIKE A DAMN USED CAR LOT TO YOU?!

Auuuuggghhh I can't STAND it. We're not selling the freaking TRUCK, you MORONS. I'm tempted to take the note I found on the window today when I stepped outta my car, call the number on it, and harrass the guy. "If Pedro couldn't have it, and neither could Juan, then you can't EITHER, Jose!" Shiza. We needa put a NOT for sale sign on it. Do they even freaking make those? Maybe we just need a sign on the door that says "If you're here about the truck, GTFO." LOL, blah.

In other news (American Idol related again), what the hell, why all of a sudden is everyone singing Chris Richardson's praises? He dances like he's got Turrets (though not quite as bad as Leslie, lol, she's scary) and his singing is, at best, mediocre. He's completely unmemorable, save for the fact that he looks like Justin Timberlake. And if there's already one, why do we need a carbon copy in the music industry? GROW SOME SENSE, AMERICA.

Okay, Savannah= the cutest dog ever. Savannah > your dog. LOL, I love her, she's sooo cute. <3 She's 'talking' to me right now (AKA barking and whining and flapping her lips, trying to get me to let her outside). LOL it's adorable.

Wow, okay, I have to go. Blah, band. SCHOOL IS LAME. ):

This is seriously the coolest idea for an invention like... ever. SERIOUSLY. XDD If I was a kid now, with this product coming out, I'd totally be like "OMG GET ME ONE I NEED TO BRUSH MY TEETH WITH THAT." In fact, I'm probably going to get one anyway, lol.

Honestly, awesome. They needa get a bunch more artists in on the mix. XD I'd dig a John Mayer tooth brush. "I don't trust myself with, brushin' youuuu~!"

My favorite part about that product is that like ALL of the music is motivational music. Seriously, like, Survivor? Haha. Apparently, brushing your teeth is such a chore that you need 'you can do it!' music to go along with. XD My favorite is the theme from Rocky. Everytime I'd brush my teeth, I'd imagine myself running up those steps, brushing my teeth. I'd stand triumphantly at the top, raise my hands (with the toothbrush in one), and then lean over to spit. Bahah.

Win one for Hasbro. Seriously.

Does anyone ELSE'S dog digest like RIDICULOUSLY loud?

One of our dogs (Sadie) is in my room right now, and the sound of her intestines gurgling is so loud that it's making me NAUSEOUS, lol. She does this every once in a while, and it drives me NUTS, but it's not like I can yell at her and be like "STOP DIGESTING, DOG!!!" LOL, uh, yeah.

Yay. <3

So here's good news. I finally have my caaarrr back! Yaaayyyyyyy! I got to drive my baby to school today. Aahhh I've missed it so much! Mwee. It doesn't even have the chunk missing out of the bumper that my uncle caused and oh-so-generously never paid for. But no matter! It's back! Yay! I'm going to put my Chococat decal on the back today, since it's NOT RAINING WHAT THE HELL. Also, I want really badly to buy a John Mayer decal. I saw one on ebay for like $2. LOL, I would feel silly buying that on ebay, tho. Something so cheap should just be readily available for me, grahh!

What sucks is the fact that, thanks to me going to the concert on Tuesday, I have a month's worth of a 15% discount in John's music store, but there's nothing I want that I can afford right now. LOL, I already have what I absolutely couldn't live without (hat, poster, and ipod holder). Maybe I'll think about buying the Any Given Thursday CD... Iunno, it was like way expensive on iTunes ($16?! wtf, most cds on iTunes are like $9), and iTunes forgot that I had money left over from the two cards I got for christmas. --; Stupid thing. Nyargh.

BUT SERIOUSLY, even though I'm TALKING about buying stuff, I'm not gonna. I'm saving for teh Canada trip!! Joe told me today that I won something for a piece of art last semester, and that I am going to get like teh MONIES. YEYZ maybe it'll be just enough to afford the Canada trip (I'm not lacking all THAT much). I actually ended up spending less than I thought I would on my trip to see John, so that's always good. If I can just get the money then I won't feel bad about asking at all. Really.

Mwee, anyway, I can't think about anything else to write because I'm kinda actually happy for once right now. o.o It might wear off in like five seconds, but for this MOMENT IN TIME, I am in a GOOD MOOD. AWESOME.

I think I'm going to go home now. XD Bye!

Oh... wow.

I love how I have stuff to do, but I sit around finding Team Rocket and Pokemon lj communities to join instead.

XD; It's better than eating cuz I'm bored, I guess. :o I should go to WalMart and pick up my dang lamp before they ship it back or whatever. That would require taking a shower. >> Hmmmm... LOL. D:

PS: Dear Houston. Srsly, you're Houston. Freaking WARM UP already. What's this 30 and 40 degree miserable and rainy for a week crap? I haven't seen the sun in days and it's totally depressing. D: I feel like I'm living in England. Even though... I've never been there, and I'm basing that only off of what I've heard. Perhaps I should stray from making that judgment... oh well. >>

OMG John Mayer concert in ten days. <3 The concert tickets are pretteh. Mayhaps I'll scan them (and blot out the important stuff, duuuh :P). They're definitely worthy of a frame once this is over with or whatever (if whoever takes my ticket at the door rips it all wonky and screws up my ticket, I'm gonna throw a fit >>). I mean, they've got his picture on it and his name is in like holographic letters! Oooh shiny. LOL I love shiny things. ): I'm so ADD.

Oh crap I've got chapters to read for art appreciation. I still think it's crap I have to take that class. What the hell man like half the classes I'm taking at San Jac are ART classes! How could I POSSIBLY prove that I appreciate art anymore? lol.

Two drawlings. omfg I hate it when people say drawling it makes me want to smack them. DRAWL IS A WORD YOU KNOW. Dang speech impediments. lol. )

I STARTED LIFE DRAWING ON THURSDAY. Freaking yay. Finally. Here's hoping my life drawing class has both genders and not just women like Holly's. SRSLY WTF I'm still mad about that for her. D:

I'm very random today. I think it might be because Holly woke me up before I was gonna get up, and now I'm all lacking sleep and stuff. Yawn.

I wish there were three of me. One to do the stuff I needed to do, one to do the stuff I've been wanting to do, and one to either sleep or run around on the internet and find new fun stuff I might like. I'm currently the third person. *slaps own hand* Stoppit! D:

Okay shutting up. LOL this post was only going to be like a sentence long... what happened?

[ PS: OH WAIT JUST KIDDING I forgot to mention I totally found the Brave Little Toaster the other day and got back into it! CHILDHOOD MOVIE FTW! I looove that movie. I want to work on a movie like it one day... Oh the days back when animation was entertaining for children and adults. Back before everyone was so concerned with not corrupting childrens minds that they started feeding them smiles and sugary marshmallow FLUFFS of plotlines in movies that parents could no longer sit through, killing off the family aspect of the movie. I hate how animated movies are just a formula now. Nobody has creativity. I HATE MONEY IT RUINS EVERYTHING GOOD. D: [/animation soapbox]

Seriously though, I love that movie. Iunno why, but my fav character has always been Kirby, lol. Ahh nothing like the beauty of the pessimist. AND THE MAGNET STILL SCARES ME. D: Seriously it's like a giant orange grim reaper- I was saying the other day that if death showed up at my door one day to take me off after I died, I'd be like "Yo. Sup." but if it was that MAGNET I'd be like "AAHHH! D: *cries*" lol XD;

Oh, btw. *kicks Disney for making fifty thousand sequals to TBLT* DUH. LOL. The first one wasn't made by Disney- it was just bought by them. Just know that. Morons. I swear. One day, I want them to hire me... and then I'll work on whatever I can tollerate til everyone gets to know and like me one day... before just one day letting everyone completely have it. "OMG WTF YOU PEOPLE ARE -MORONS.- YOU MAY HAVE SOME ARTISTIC TALENT, BUT THE CREATIVITY FAIRY AIN'T VISITED YOU FOR YEARS! SEQUALS?! SEQUALS?! I'LL TELL YOU WHERE YOU CAN PUT YOUR SEQUALS!" lol, that wouldn't get me fired at allllll. XD Haha. [/second animation soapbox]

btw, I still love Disney. But I love old Disney. New Disney irritates me. Until they hire back the 2D Feature animation dept, I'm gonna be skeptical about em. Of course even then, they could use some help. >> Meh.

Doy, I guess I'll shut up now. XD ]
kaoru: (heart of life)
Sooo, I'm just nearly all packed for my trip to see Holly on Sunday. ^_^ I've never flown anywhere all by myself (the closest I've come was the band trip in tenth grade- we had chapperones, but the kid to chapperone ratio was pretty uneven, so it kinda felt independent back then), so I'm kind of nervous. o.O Give me a few more read-throughs, and I'll be able to quote you my ticket confirmation and rule e-mail by memory. XD;;; That's how many times I've read it, lol. I really hope I don't forget anything, or inadvertantly break any rules. :<

Oh, btw. Does anyone know the usual policy for having wrapped gifts in your checked luggage? I have Christmas gifts I'm bringing to Holly in one of my suitcases (I had to bring the big and small one because of the gifts X3;;), and my mom mentioned that they might be upset about the wrapped gifts. o_o I'm REALLY hoping not, because I wrapped them all pretty and I don't want to do it again. ;_; I checked all through Southwest.com, and I couldn't find a policy ANYWHERE on wrapped gifts. There is, however, a policy on human remains. Just in case you ever wanted to bring a severed arm or your granma's ashes long distance with you. XD

But anyway, if anyone has any answers to that question, or just airport advice in general, I'd be grateful to hear it. :3

In other news, I found a huge slug in our house today (so much wildlife that gets into my house, lol)!! o_O It was near the back door, crawling on the carpet towards my mother's flip flops. I called one of our dogs over to sniff at it, but she immediately got scared when she saw it and ran off. Stupid dogs. X3;;; I was extremely curious, so I ground up some salt in a bowl... X3 I had never poured salt on a slug before. My brother, knowing the consiquences of such a thing, was smart and suggested, if I wanted to kill it like that, that I move it into the kitchen. X3; So he picked it up w/ a towel and laid it down in the kitchen. I immediately dumped the salt all over it, lol. It was interesting for a while, but as it died in a pool of salt mixed with its own body-snot, I started to feel guilty... and sick when my brother told me that, since -I- was the curious one, I'd be cleaning it up after I was through watching it. @_@ Ewww. I sat there and just watched it, my dog next to me, laying on her paws and shaking. LOL, that dog is good for nothing, I swear. XD She's so cute, though. My parents eventually came home, eww'd along with me, and then demanded that I clean it up and clean the dishes, lol. XD;;

It's going to be warm and in the 70's here all week next week. I can't believe that it finally decides to warm up and be balmy when I GO UP NORTH FOR A WEEK. LOL, freaking GREAT timing, Texas. Thanks. I keep checking the weekly forecast for PA- it looks like it's gonna be about 40-50ish all week there. *shrugs* That's cold to me, but it's not death. Nothing I can't experience living right here. X3; It's not even going to be all that cold in NYC. o.O Like, also in the 40's or so. I was expecting to go up north and it be like, in the 20's. XD Not that I WANT to freeze, but really- if I'm gonna freeze, freeze me out in an authentic northern way, Yankee land! I'm disappointed, lol! I wanted to see snow... X3;

Wheeeeee. Tomorrow is the big family Christmas in San Antonio. I just wrapped a bunch of doodle bears for all of my lil cousins today. Those things are NOT fun to wrap. I've grown up being the Christmas-gift wrapper for my family every year, so I know how to wrap a package, but I got this to say- oddly shaped gifts= NOT FUN.

LOL, speaking of Christmas w/ the family... my cousin Michael and his wife Amanda are expecting their fourth kid any day now. My parents were talking about how the two of them aren't going to be there tomorrow just in case Jillian is born. My mom was like "Haha, somebody should clue them in on what's causing all of that..." (talking about having four kids, one right after the other) I, who was wrapping baby clothes for their fourth baby at the time, laughed and said "Yeah, maybe we shoulda gotten em condoms for Christmas instead. XD" LOL, and my parents were all alarmed that I said it. LOL, Dad was like "Okay, we were NOT gonna go there." I just said "Oh shut the hell up, you were hinting at it, and you were thinking it, so I just said it. :P" LOL, of course I was joking. I hate it when my parents find things taboo. XD; I'm like "wtf, just say what you feeeeel."

Aaanyway, I have run out of things to talk about. X3 I'm gonna be gone all day tomorrow, and then in the evening, I'm either going to finish up a RP with Holly, or hang out with Bethany and Jenny. Jenny is gonna be back in town starting tomorrow, and Bethany told me today that she had told my mom that the two of them wanted to hang out w/ me tomorrow evening, so since I'm about to go be with Holly for an entire week, I might go hang w/ them, depending on what time we come back from San Antonio. Mwee. :3 So many friends. X3;

My point in saying all of that is that I should prolly go to bed. I needa get some sleep, because I bet I won't be getting any tomorrow evening. XD Not only am I going to be waayyy too excited/anxious to sleep, but my flight leaves at 8:05 AM. o_o I'm going to have to be up waayyy early. X3; Blah.

Anyway, nite. <3

Dec. 11th, 2006 01:15 am
kaoru: (wtf?)
Well, that was really frightening, lol. My brother came in about midnight and said "Happy first day of the new Zelda being released on Gamecube." So of course, I immediately blurt out "It'd be great if we could just go and get it now, eh?" then I was like "Wait... maybe I can!"

Haha, bad move.

So then Aaron's all excited. So I go into his room after I decide I'm gonna try it, and I'm FREAKING OUT, lol. I'm like "What if Mom and Dad catch me? OMG can't you wait til tomorrow- I don't have anything to do til 2:45, I'll go check while you're at school!" and he's like "Aw, but I want it now." And lol, in truth, me too- I wanna see it. So I decide I'm going. Of course, before I go, he's like "Okay, some websites say it comes out on the 13th, but Nintendo.com says the 11th." So I'm like "Okay..."

DUMB I didn't ask him to check WalMart's website (which is where I said I'd go to check).

So after freaking out and finally deciding that yes, I'm going to try it, I sneak out the side door in the garage and out the backyard gate, so as to avoid the sound of keys jingling/the door opening, the dogs barking, and the security lights outside coming on. LOL, already I run into problems- everything goes great, til the gate. Apparently, my dad cut down limbs and situated them all so that the GATE WON'T OPEN. So I'm standing there, water from the full gutters on the house above my head dripping down on my head (it's wet outside from a recent rain shower), SHOVING on this gate, reexamining my life. Eventually, I squeeze out, lean back on the gate to push it shut, and then take a flying leap over the large-Christmas-tree-sized branch obstructing my path.

DING SIDE-OF-HOUSE SECURITY LIGHTS. I'm just like "Daaammmnnn not good..." But I kept sneaking. Luckily, there are no parental windows facing the side of the house, so I am not caught. I open my car w/ the key to avoid the honk of the unlock, get in, and slooowly back out, lol.

After I get out of my driveway, it IMMEDIATELY hits me what neighborhood I'm in... and I freak out ALL OVER AGAIN, lol. I drove up to WalMart and parked... and I was TRYING to look confident, but lol, I was clutching my wallet so close (didn't bring the purse because it's jingly and heavy). I walked thru the doors and waited for like 10 mins for assistance in the electronics, at which point some hungry-looking grungy white guy carting around stuff from out of the storeroom in the back asked me if I needed help. LOL, I had been standing there avoiding his eye contact, because I just kneeeeewwww he, of all of the people walking around, was going to ask me, and he did (somebody had been called to the back that was in charge of electronics already, so I was just waiting on him). So, after a hefty amount of avoiding eye-contact, the guy has it arranged to call Mr. Electronics Man on his break, at which point I am told that there are no Zelda games even coming out soon... which was a freaking lie, but that's okay, I believe them that it's not coming out TODAY at least, so I decide not to be irritating and make them search around in the back, lest they decide that I need to repay Mr. Grunge man in ways that are apparently only acceptable AFTER midnight. Uh. Yeah, needless to say, I thanked everyone and leeeeeft as quick as I could, lol.

Moral of the story- don't go to WalMart after midnight in North Shore, especially alone. And female. Just don't.

Anyway, I drove home... once again afraid of my parents upon turning on my street. About halfway down my street, I turn my headlights off and very gently roll into the driveway. I turn the car off and get some school stuff out (which I needed anyway, but decided to use as my cover, lest they catch me coming back inside). The psychology folder was a good idea. The portfolio? Not so much. Here I am, tiptoeing back up to the unlocked gate, when BAMM, security light on again. So I'm thinking "Crap Crap Crap, get inside. GET INSIDE." BAMM BAMM BAMM. Gate-obstructing tree branch + obstructed gate + HUGE PORTFOLIO = Uh, problem. So there I am, slamming a giant black freaking WINDSAIL-SIZED PIECE OF PLASTIC up against the house repeatedly, secretly deciding to declare it a miracle if I get in the house uncaught...

Well, I made it. The best part was the fact that both the gate AND the back door were like SHOVED shut, but I was able to push through them and get into the house, making ALL of that noise, and having that security light come on...

... and yet, my parents didn't wake up.

... I am now reexamining our house's security. If me, a freaking scared-out-of-my-mind 18-year-old girl OF THE HOUSEHOLD can get in and out at midnight, seeming like a bull in a china cabinet and STILL NOT GET CAUGHT, um... That can't be good news.

Anyway, I'm still alive. And very surprised, lol. And never leaving to go to WalMart at night ever again (at least not without permission and a friend of the male variety to escort me). And, because of this, if any grungy WalMart employees show up on my doorstep. ...Well, I'm going to be very mad at myself. Let's just say that. LOL. :P

So today, for a band performance, we had to wear all black, from head to toe.

I woke up this morning and realized I had no black shirt.

Man, you know you're a douche when, on your iPod, you put the thing on shuffle and flip through a HUNDRED songs to find the one you want to listen to, when you could have just gone music>>songs>>"Title of Song."

LOL, I always feel bad disrupting my 'pod's shuffle cycle. Even though there are probably only 20 songs I actually feel like listening to at the moment. I'm strange.

WTF, daylight savings time! I always manage to forget, I swear- I was even talking about it yesterday, and I wake up today, and I'm like "... why does my computer clock say 12:53, and my watch says 1:53?" Doyyyy.

Soooo North Shore marched yesterday. They did a really good job, but alas, they did not make finals, so the buck stopped there. :/ Another year's marching season, come and gone. Le-sigh.

I was feeling really depressed last night. o.o I mean, baseball season AND marching season ended in the same weekend. I was like "I must reexamine my life!" LOL, I have to come up with some new things to be a fan of. Or spend more time being a fan of my other fandoms, I guess. Maybe I can FINALLY rearrange my room and get my drafting table in here... Lord knows my room at least needs some cleaning.

LOL, I was able to quit being depressed long enough to go to sleep last night- TV Land had an all day 'The Munsters' marathon, so I had a ton of fun watching a few episodes of that. I loooove old television shows; thank God for TV Land. ^_^

Hmm... I really don't want to spend today at home. My body's been beconing since yesterday evening to just hop in the car and drive. I wonder if I could convince my family to go see The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D today... I bet that'd make me really happy. :)

... here's hoping!

[ EDIT: So nobody wants to do ANYTHING with me today. They'd rather stay at home reading and watching football. Whatever. Bastards. ]
kaoru: (bigger than my body)
So the Cardinals won the world series! Good for them; I'm happy for them. :) Once they just nearly backed into the Central Division championship spot, we kind of adopted them as our 'team' for the postseason (since, ya know, the Astros disappointed, lol, what else is new). It felt kind of funny to be rooting for the Cards at first (since they're like our BIGGEST rivals), but you know, they ARE a good team, and respectable, and I do like them quite a bit. It was just always hard to warm up to them because of what kind of a threat they presented to the Astros, but standing alone, they're all great players. Definitely. And obviously, lol- they just won the World Series!

Watching them all freak out once Wayneright threw that last strike was great- I was really happy for them... buuut at the same time, I kept sitting there thinking "Man... now why couldn't the Astros have done this last year..." Seriously, I love my hometeam, lol- if they had won the World Series last year, I wouldn't have been able to contain myself- tears would have just been POURING down my face. I hated that they went out and got bulldozed in four games last year. Those of you (probably nobody on MY friends list, lol- just speaking generally here) who never watch the Astros and only saw them for those four games, and want to judge them on that, you're missing out. Houston has a great franchise. To me, it's not so much about the game as it is the lovability of the players. It's the same reason I'm into anything- heck, it's the same reason I'm into John Mayer (well, that and I have a total crush on him, lol)! I watch from afar, and I think "Would I get along with these people? Do they represent something that I can agree with?" And really, they do. They're great guys, no questions asked there. When you're watching the game, and the camera pans over to the right, and Berkman is chattin' up whoever is the runner on first (Who's on first, haha), no matter what team we're playing, it just makes me smile- that guy knows and is friends with EVERYONE. Players like Biggio (and Bagwell too, even though he isn't playing anymore), who have been here for YEARS just helping the franchise to grow, taking a backseat now and then and making sacrifices for the betterment of the organization. MAN the Astros have so much heart. I mean, sure, it's nice to have big names like Roger Clemens and Andy Pettite continuously rejoining the roster, but man, if anyone thinks I'm watching the game for them, they're SORELY mistaken (my favorite pitcher of ours for the past three years has actually been Oswalt, hehe). It's all about the heart. The players. The fans (the Astros have a great fanbase- we've all seen the best and the worst of those guys, so we're no fair-weather fans for sure). Just everything. I grew up with this team, and I love em to death. They'll always be number one to me, even if they continue to finish far from it, heh.

Wow, I wasn't expecting to go all Astro-happy there, lol. Anyway.

So one of the highlights of watching the world series games for me was seeing the Volkswagon 'promise-a-guitar' commercial featuring Johnny. Hahah! <3 I squeak everytime it comes on. I love that he's in a commercial. More pimpage of Continuum and whatnot, haha. Just proves that people are gonna love him no matter WHAT he does with his music (well, as long as it stays music, heh, which it will). Good times. :) omg I heard he's planning a Winter Tour, ftw? Right now he's touring internationally... I'd die if he came back for a second round. Seriously, his concert was LIFE-CHANGING, man. I gotta get better seats for round two, lol. Ugh.

Back to commericals during the World Series- OMG THERE IS A FREAKING CAR THAT CAN PARALLEL PARK -ITSELF.- Like seriously, it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my entire life. There's the guy, just driving, and he slows down to parallel park, LETS GO OF THE WHEEL, and it does all of the turning for him and PARKS ITS FREAKING SELF. I was -floored,- lol. I guess it doesn't take much to amuse me, but MAN. That could like, change drivers ed for good! Freaking CRAZY. I thought they were doing good when they had cars that could navigate themselves... pretty soon, we're not even going to have to drive our cars at all. We'll just hop in, shut the door, program our cars to tell them where we're going, and then hang out w/ whoever else is in the car, or go to sleep, or whatever. Seriously, the way of the future. Oh, and also, said cars will be able to fly and run on water, lol. PIMP, I hope I live to see something that great, heh.

So the art gallery opening is this Tuesday, and I apparently do NOT have my walking class that night (it got cancelled... God was smiling down on me for that decision, I swear), so I can go!!! I'm slowly starting to make friends, so it ought to be fun. We're encouraged to dress up (it's Halloween night, doy). I would LOVE to make my Team Rocket costume and wear it (it's a really easy outfit, lol, and it's something that I could wear on days aside from Halloween if I wanted to), but I don't know if I'm gonna have time/money/material/whatever. I knew I was going to find myself backed against the wall for halloween, lol. I always do. I like the holiday okay, but I also freakin' hate it, because I just have NO costume making skills at all, I never know if I have any plans, and everyone just has way more fun than I do, lol (I usually end up sitting at home alone in the dark so that nobody will ring the doorbell >>). I don't want to go buy a costume. *whines* I want to make it. But I'm almost certain I don't have time. Whiiiinnneeee. I wish this holiday hadn't been so taboo growing up, or else I might not feel so weird about it. It doesn't help that my best friend worships the freaking holiday, lol. She's like "OMG HALLOWEEN!!!" and I'm just sitting here going "Let it be over... let it be over... @_@" Sorry Holly, but it's the truth. XD;;; It's just not special to me.

CHRISTMAS, on the other hand. ftw, I'm already excited about it, lol. I had a disappointing Christmas last year (no decorations because my family procrastinates, AND like hardly any gifts (not to sound stingy, lol, but my family usually goes crazy buying us kids gifts) because we were saving money for our spring break cruise which totally ended up hardly being worth it anyway, lol), so I'm ready for this one to completely trump it. I'm down to my last one/two years at home here, and I don't want ANYTHING subpar, freaking gosh. ... Even though I'll prolly come home every Christmas after I leave anyway, heh. Marrying somebody someday eventually is going to get really complicated. XD I'm going to want to go visit my family every freaking holiday, and he's gonna be like "Let's go visit mine!" and I'm gonna be like "BITCH, WE'RE VISITING MINE, SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!" ... and that is why I have never had a boyfriend before, lol. I suck. ;P

So anyway, tomorrow is the Area Marching contest! Eeee, I'm so excited for North Shore. I don't know how everyone else is doing this year, but I know for a fact that they are doing better than ever, so I REALLY want them to go to state, lol. I know, I know, my hopes are probably way too high- I mean, with competitors like Pearland, Clear Lake/Brook/Creek, Brazoswood (I would say the Woodlands, but uh... their show was like wtf obscure this year, so they can just kindly take their weirdness and shove it, because this is MARCHING BAND, not pansy 'we have to show the judges we can play any kind of music and move around to it, even if it sucks as a field show')... It's gonna be hard to win. But I think that if they're just ON their game, they'll go. I definitely think they have the goods to get to go again (the top ten bands are picked after every band's first performance for a final 'battle of the bands' type thing). They just gotta go out there and show them who is boss.

I realized what I just said, hah. That means I don't have to go up to the stadium to watch anyone else before North Shore. Obviously, the top ten bands are going again, and I'm only interested in seeing the bands I listed up there as competitors (and North Shore, of course), which will no doubt be going in the top ten. SCORE, I have a free day til 4:45, lol. Maybe I can pester mom about this Rocket Costume thing... word!

In other news, I think I figured out what I'm going to try to do for the recital on the 17th. I haven't even looked at my 11th grade solo yet, but I pulled out a couple of other of my favorites... Cantabile et Presto, as I predicted, would be way too hard for me to try and get down in such a short time... However, I pulled out Movement 1 of Francis Poulenc's "Sonata" (something that Ms. Hoisager had me working on in my spare time between solo and ensemble contests)- freaking forgot how much I LOVE that song. Seriously, it so helps to play a solo that you've heard before and love to death. I'll be honest, not many things get me excited about my INSTRUMENT- sure, I love band and orchestra to death, and the chemistry of the sounds together as a whole is freaking awesome to me, but I've never much been interested in being a supahstar flute player because, let's face it- I don't have the time, I'm not as good as I should be for this level in order to make it big time, and I have a different talent, better than my flute playing, to carry me. However, that song... ooh, I love it so much, it just makes me excited to pick up my baby and play it. It's GORGEOUS- I can definitely put a lot of feeling into it. Once thing I've always hated about Solo and Ensemble contests is the fact that you work your freaking ASS off for them, to get a one and to go to state (if you're interested in going, anyway)... and then nobody EVER gets to hear your solo but like, three people- the region judge, the state judge, and your piano accompaniest. What kind of crap is that?! I've never played in a recital before, so I'm really excited about this. Really, it's about time that somebody learned the capacity of [me playing] my instrument standing alone (well, alone-with-a-piano, lol, because the solo wouldn't be the same w/out it). I've played in public before, and I've played in small rooms for judges before, but I've never combined music that I like w/ playing in public. Half the reason I was never able to make region is because they gave us etudes from that stupid flute book. Uh, NOT INTERESTED. I swear to goodness, had they said "Okay, THIS YEAR, for region, we want you all to practice your favorite solo and then go and there and play," bitch, I would have MADE region. It's all about the passion. I don't have passion for mere exercizes, no matter HOW hard they are- I want something that somebody put feeling into. A piece of music that serves a purpose on its own, outside of an etude practice book. I don't know, maybe that's just me, but whatever. My point is, I finally get to show everyone what I'm capable of, and I also get to show them what beautiful solos these things are, so I'm happy.

Okay, I better hop off. It's 2:40 AM, and I'm KINDA tired, but I wanted to try drawing a Neoshippy picture. Eee I luv teh Neoshiiip. ;-;
